Senate Votes to
Increase VA Health Care

On April 7, 2000, the Senate unanimously passed the Johnson Amendment to the Senate Budget Resolution to increase Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care funding by $500 million above the $1.4 billion increase offered by Prersident Clinton and Chairman Domenici. This brings total VA care funding to more than $21 billion, a $1.9 billion increase above the fiscal year 2000 level. Thank you for your efforts in making phone calls and sending e-mails to your Senators to bring about this very positive result.

Joseph A. Violante, National Legislative Director, DAV.
